Large, mysterious Kokeshi with trees in brown wood, decorated with hiraganas. Hand-carved and hand-painted solid wood, with a section of bark.

These dolls, filled with poetry and nature, were originally made for children and then offered as a sign of love or friendship, and brought back by the Japanese as souvenirs and small gifts from various spa regions. They could also symbolize a wish for a healthy child. These handcrafted creations reflect the beauty of the archipelago's landscapes and culture. Today, Omiyage Kokeshis, or souvenirs like this one, are no longer made in Japan.
