Natural beauty for this rare kokeshi carved from a single piece of cedar ( Sugi). The author belongs to the Matagoro family, 8th generation of a line of kokeshi carvers in the Akita region. The doll is sober, with a barely drawn kimono and a few chiseled details on the obi, and is signed on the back.
